SALLY KINDBERG
Sally Kindberg (b. Stockholm, Sweden) is celebrated for her unique blend of humor, surrealism, and narrative style, which come together to create captivating visual stories. Her collaboration with Artful Edition, a platform known for its unique limited edition artworks, features a 60 x 70 cm archival pigment print titled 'Pairs.' For this project, Kindberg produced an exclusive edition of 40 prints that
showcases her signature playful and imaginative style. The artwork, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and vibrant colors, not only reflects Kindberg’s artistic vision but also makes her work more accessible to a broader audience.
"Interested in both high and low brow culture, I play on the notion of the tragicomic in a society that is both civilized and ridiculous. This humorous approach acts as a portal that enables us to explore our more unsavoury emotions. My paintings stay predominantly figurative - the figurative, which is the starting point, at times moves towards abstraction. In my paintings, I am interested in the contrast between flatness and the illusion of three-dimensionality, looking for a composition which is often a double take, highlighting the overlooked in the everyday through the use of colour, mark making, stylization."
Sally Kindberg has a BA in Fine Art and Contemporary Critical Theory (2007) and an MFA in Fine Art (2012) from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her solo exhibitions include notable shows like "LOUNGE" at Everyday Mooonday in Seoul in 2024, "SAGA" at Wentrup Gallery in Berlin in 2023, and "CALENDAR" at Public Service Gallery in Stockholm in the same year. "Lay of the Land" at Thierry Goldberg in New York in 2022, and
"DREAM PALACE" in Seoul. Earlier exhibitions include "RUSH" at DUVE in Berlin and "FREEPORT" at Peter von Kant in St Leonards, both in 2021.
